SIU and the Peruvian Club of Florida hold a successful Book Fair in Miami

• More than 100 people participated in this activity that seeks to promote culture as one of the most important economic activities in the City of the Sun.

Under the slogan “One book, a thousand stories and a world of knowledge”, San Ignacio University and the Peruvian Club of Florida held the Book Fair for the first time, on April 7, 2022, at the SIU campus located in Doral, Florida.

The event, which had more than a hundred participants, had the support of the University’s Academics team and outstanding students who led the logistics of the event.

The fair is one of the Literary Month activities. On this occasion, international authors participated in the launch of three new books and different activities to promote culture in the city of Miami.

The Books Fair began at noon and was moderated by the author Sonia Valdés, who in turn presented her book “¿En qué basas tu éxito?” (What do you base your success on?). The first speaker was Silvia López, in charge of the talk “Writing for Children”, with tips for writing children’s publications.

Later, the author Kattia Castellanos presented the book “The Cocuyo Effect Lessons from my father: Finding your life’s purpose”. Then, the exhibition “El arte de escribir” (The art of writing) was in charge by the writer Addhemar Sierralta, and “How to publish and edit a book”, by the author Jorge Yeshayahu.

At 4:00 pm. Stanley Zych directed the exhibition “Pandemics and their latest effects on the economy”.

To close the day, the panel integrated by Maria Rodriguez-Larrain, Federico Martínez, Jorge Yeshayahu and Addhemar Sierralta presented the book “Los notables” (The notables), whose authors are part of the Peruvian Club of Florida.

Finally, different baskets containing books, drinks, clothing, cups, notebooks, and beauty products were raffled among the attendees. The librarian of San Ignacio University, Yaima Ballester, encouraged the new authors to participate in the edition that will be held next year and thus be able to make their works known. “You can send a copy of the book you want to sell, the participation of spaces in the Fair is free. We will evaluate the editorial, content of the book, and if they can participate. More than a book fair, it is a world of knowledge”, she stated.
